When flanges are ordered from the manufacturer, it is the purchasers responsibility to know what is being ordered. The following information from the purchaser is needed by Boltex to define the flange required for the order: |
| Pipe Size | |
| The size of the matching pipe or of the flange to which this flange will be mated. Usually expressed as NPS and given in inches. | |
| Pressure Class | |
| Defined by ASME or other standards-producing body. For ASME, the classes are 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500 and 2500. AWWA and nonstandard pressure classes include Classes 75, 125, 125LW, 175 and 350. | |
| Type of Face | |
| Flat Face, Full Face, Raised Face, Ring Joint, Tongue and Groove (large or small), or Male and Female (large or small). | |
| Flange Configuration | |
| Welding Neck, Slip-On, Socket Welding, Lap Joint, Threaded or Blind. | |
| Wall Thickness or Bore of Matching Pipe | |
| This information, applicable to Welding Neck and Socket Welding Flanges, is normally designated as Standard (STD), Extra Heavy (XH), Double Extra Heavy (XXH), or schedule 40, 60, 80, 100, etc. | |
| Material (and Grade if Available) | |
| Usually specified by ASTM specification number with grades and classes (if applicable) such as A105, A350 Grade LF2, A350 Grade LF6 Class 1 or A694 F42. |
